Pets are always allowed on the ferry, but under certain conditions, which may differ depending on the company. The ticket for their entry on board should not even always be bought. In any case, for international crossings it is always necessary to have a European passport (European Pet Passport), for those in Italy, especially for shorter crossings, registration with the dog registry (tattoo or microchip), the veterinary medical certificate of good health and the vaccination booklet. But let’s see below how the different shipping companies of the Mediterranean regulate the journey of dogs, cats, etc. There are also restrictions for attack dogs and guard and defense dogs which may vary depanding on the country of destination. There are always exceptions for bling guide dogs. The health regulations of the competent authorities apply to all companies. They must never cause danger or disturbance to passengers or the ship and must never be left inside vehicles. Food, bowl also for water, hygiene, are always borne by the owners or carers.
