By sea in Morocco with ferries to Tangier

To disembark in the most important port of Morocco you can start the journey from Italy, Spain or France.

Maritime connections to Tangier

Located opposite the Strait of Gibraltar on the northern coast of Morocco, Tangier is a port city. The port, Tangier Med, is the main Moroccan port.

The other port in the area, the small port of Tangier Ville, is much closer to the city center, and serves as a passenger terminal exclusively for the Spanish route that connects it to the port of Tarifa. All the other routes, on the other hand, end up in the largest and most impressive Tangerina port infrastructure.


Routes from Italy

There is only one line currently active for the most important port of Morocco from Italy, and it is the one that connects it to Genoa. By clicking on the link in the next paragraph you can examine all the details, such as day and time of departures, ticket prices and other useful information.


Ferries from Genoa

The ferries on the Genoa ➜ Tangier route are operated by the GNV (Grandi Navi Veloci) shipping company: seats, beds, cabins for exclusive use, internal or with sea view, can be booked on the Fantastic, Majestic, Excellent and Excelsior suite. These carriers are equipped with restaurant, pizzeria, self-service, snack bar, children’s room, chapel, shop, Wi-fi. There are one, two or three trips a week. The duration of the crossing is approximately 50/51 hours. In cases where an intermediate stopover is made in Barcelona, ​​the journey time becomes approximately 53/54 hours.


Routes from Spain

As for the departures from Spain, you can start the journey from Barcelona (at the link in the next paragraph all the information on the journey is available, such as departure dates and times and prices), or from Algeciras to disembark in the port of Tangier Med, while the vehicles departing from Tarifa land in the port of Tangier Ville.


Ferries from Barcelona

The carriers of the GNV Fantastic, Majestic, Excellent and Excelsior fleet are also operating on the Barcelona ➜ Tangier route. The duration of the journey varies between twenty-eight hours and forty-five minutes and thirty-four hours and forty-five minutes. The frequency is one or two races a week, which become three or four in high season. The types of accommodation are the armchair, the bed, the cabin or the family suite. Restaurants, bars, children’s playroom, shop, chapel and Wi-Fi are available on board.


Ferries from Algeciras

Algeciras, located in the bay of the same name, is a Spanish city in the province of Cadiz. There are several shipping companies that connect it with the main port of Tangerine.

The Trasmediterranea, with the naval units Juan J. Sister and Ciudad de Malaga, takes one hour and thirty minutes.

Balearia also takes an hour and thirty minutes with the ship Poeta Lopez Anglada.

Africa Morocco Link spends an hour and a half with the Morocco Star carrier and two hours with Morocco Sun.

FRS Ferry with the Tanger Express and Kattegat ships arrives at their destination in an hour and a half.


Ferries from Tarifa

From Tarifa the port of Tangier Ville is reached with the Tarifa Jet of the FRS Ferry company in one hour, and with the Maria Dolores of Inter Shipping in two hours.


Routes from France

There are two trajectories that connect France to the main port of Morocco: one starts from Sète (with a click on the link in the following paragraph you can find out dates and times of departure, prices and more) and the other from Marseille.


Ferries from Sète

The ferries that travel the Sète ➜ Tangier route are those of the fleet of the shipping company GNV. The Fantastic, the Excelsior, the GNV Cristal, the Excellent can also make an intermediate stopover in Barcelona; in this case the duration of the crossing is forty-eight hours and forty-five minutes, while the direct journey takes from forty to forty-five hours. The frequency is one or two trips a week. You can settle in an armchair, stay in an exclusive or shared cabin, or in a double or quadruple suite. Among the services on board are the à la carte restaurant, self-service, pizzeria, snack bar, children’s area, prayer room and Wi-Fi.


Ferries from Marseille

The La Meridionale company runs the route towards the busy Tangerina maritime station departing from Marseille. The ship is the Girolata, which completes the route in forty hours of navigation.
