Trekking and kayaking program
On the first day of the adventure weekend, at 8:00 you will be transferred by minibus from Portoferraio to the medieval village of Poggio (luggage is transported to the hotel), where the guided trekking excursion begins, whose itinerary leads first to the summit of Monte Capanne, the highest on Elba, and then to Pomonte. The route is 12 kilometers long, with a vertical drop of 700 meters uphill and 1000 meters downhill. The starting altitude is 330 meters above sea level, while the maximum altitude is 1019 meters.
After reaching the top of Monte Capanne, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of all the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago and Corsica, you descend along a path on the opposite side to that of the climb, up to the Filicaie crest. Continue the descent along the Malpasso road up to the Caprili della Grottaccia, from where the granite ridges give way to the wild and luxuriant Pomonte Valley, characterized by holm oaks and alders. We proceed up to the chestnut woods and vineyards, to then arrive in Pomonte, a hamlet in the municipality of Marciana, where you have dinner and overnight in a hotel.
The second day of this adventure weekend is dedicated to a guided kayak trip. After breakfast at the hotel, you start paddling in the stretch of water in front of the Pomonte beach to travel 18 kilometers along the south-west coast of the island of Elba up to Marina di Campo. The kayaks are equipped with a paddle, life jacket, splash guard and dry bag.
From the Quartiere beach you go to the Ogliera rock where the wreck of the Elviscott is located, then you round the Punta dell’Argentera to easily encounter shearwaters and dolphins at this time of year. You then reach the black beaches of the Tombe, characterized by the ancient copper mines, and Cape Fetovaia which encloses the homonymous beach. After these stops you paddle towards the cliffs of the Calle and towards the so-called Piscine, to arrive on the coastal strip of the village of Seccheto, a hamlet in the municipality of Campo nell’Elba. Continue to Cavoli beach and along the southern coast until you reach the Grotta di Mare, sea cave which you can enter by kayak. After the beach of Colle Palombaia and the cliffs of Libreria, you double Cape Poro, enter the Grotta del Vescovo and pass through the Grotta del Bove Marino sea cave. Immediately after Cape Bardella you enter the Gulf of Galenzana, where you touch the small beaches of Salandri. In conclusion, you arrive on the beach of Marina di Campo, from where you are transferred by minibus to the port of Portoferraio.
