Ciokowine Fest in Alcamo (Sicily), IGP chocolate and DOC wine

Choco-lovers and wine-lovers cannot miss the Ciokowine Fest in Alcamo, where guided tastings, masterclasses and fun are scheduled for adults and children in spring.

The Ciokowine Fest, a chocolate and wine festival, was born from the twinning between the cities of Alcamo and Modica, both once belonging to the fiefdom of the County of Modica, and from a union of intent: that of relaunching their respective food and wine excellences.

The location of the event is in Alcamo, a municipality of the free municipal consortium of Trapani, in Sicily, in the center of the Gulf of Castellammare.

The famous Modica chocolate, which is obtained from a particular cold process, has a protected geographical indication, while the Bianco Alcamo DOC is one of the first Sicilian wines to be awarded the controlled designation of origin.

Also thanks to the collaboration in the event of the Western Sicily Regional Enoteca (whose headquarters are located in Alcamo, in the Castle of the Counts of Modica, dating back to the 14th century) and of the Consortium for the Protection of Chocolate of Modica PGI, from the pairings of wine and chocolate, which are not improvised but are indeed rooted in Sicilian cuisine, a unique experience arises, made up of an array of tastes and aromas.

The annual event is organized by the STS Association, which aims to create and promote activities that can contribute to the tourism development of the area.

How to get to Alcamo from the Italian peninsula

To reach the event location from the Italian peninsula it may be advisable to take a ferry to Palermo, with the possibility of leaving from Livorno, Genoa, Civitavecchia, Naples or Salerno (instead of Messina to cross only the Strait by sea).

Once disembarked in the Palermo port, you can continue comfortably towards your destination, by car for about an hour along the SS624, or with a Segesta Autolinee bus.
