The most important Sardinian ports
You can arrive in Sardinia by ship or by plane. The Sardinian ports are various and you can choose the place of landing depending on the area of the region where you want to go. For the north-east there are the ports of Olbia and Golfo Aranci, for Ogliastra and the east there is the port of Arbatax, for the south Cagliari while for the north-west Porto Torres. There are also three airports (in Olbia, Alghero and Cagliari) but we have already written about why it is better to travel by ship rather than by plane.
Civitavecchia – Sardinia naval routes
The Italian landing place that guarantees the shortest route in order to reach the island of Sardinia is the port of Civitavecchia. From here the closest is the port of Olbia (two hundred and thirty kilometers away) and the Tirrenia fast ships guarantee this route daily, morning and evening, in eight hours, with a deck, armchair or cabin passage. The rules of this company invite you to show up for boarding at least an hour and a half before departure, or two hours before if traveling by vehicle. It departs from Civitavecchia three times a week at eight in the evening and arrive in Cagliari the next morning (some routes arrive at 9:00 am, others at 11:00 am), with a motor ship with Bridge, Poltrona or Cabin.
