Sea transport for the Tremiti Archipelago
The Tremiti islands constitute an archipelago of the Adriatic Sea and at the same time a municipality in the province of Foggia. The municipal seat is located on the island of San Nicola, even if the largest and most inhabited is the island of San Domino situated just two hundred meters far. The second in size is that of Capraia, but it is uninhabited, like all the others – Pianosa, Cretaccio and La Vecchia – which are just big rocks. All together they belong to the homonymous Marine Nature Reserve and are also called Diomedèe. The NLG sea transport from the mainland reaches the port of San Domino (the most connected) and the port of San Nicola, from which you can go to all the other islands with a boat service. To reach the two main ports of the archipelago – in about an hour and a quarter – you can leave all year round by ferry from Termoli (Molise), almost 40 kilometers away, from where in July, August and September there is also the hydrofoil with arrival in S. Domino in fifty minutes. In the period from July to mid-September it is possible to leave by hydrofoil from Vieste (Puglia), fifty kilometers away,to S. Nicola island.
