Located on the central-eastern side of the island, the port of Marettimo actually consists of two contiguous marinas: Scalo Vecchio and Scalo Nuovo.
Scalo Vecchio - the northernmost of the two - can accommodate about twenty small-medium sized boats, while Scalo Nuovo has a pier over 200m long where ferries and fast vehicles from Sicily, Favignana and Levanzo dock. Furthermore, during the tourist season, a floating dock allows the mooring of pleasure boats.
The journey varies between 30 and 150 minutes. The times are affected by any intermediate stops and the type of boat with which the journey is made.
In Marettimo you can move on foot. Alternatively, as in Levanzo, you can take advantage of the taxi boat service provided by various residents. In this way it is possible to reach coves and inlets scattered throughout the territory by agreeing in advance the time of return to the port.
The ticket office is just over a hundred meters from the port.
Near the port of Marettimo there are several commercial activities: bars; restaurants; pizzerias; food; tobacconist; diving center; maritime excursion agencies so on.
The strong point of the tourist offer of Marettimo are the excursions. Those by sea , proposed by various specialized agencies that compete for tourists eager to go around the island by boat; and those by land, among which the Castle of Punta Troia and Monte Falcone stand out. The latter with its 686 meters above sea level represents the top of the island.
In short, if you plan to take a holiday in Marettimo, remember to pack your swimsuit, hiking clothing and a camera. You will not regret!
