Located in the northwestern part of Sardinia, the port of Porto Torres is characterized by the presence of two main areas: the civic port and the industrial port. While in the first one pass passenger ferries (Tirrenia), freight and pleasure boats, in the second one moor cruise ships, in particular those of Grimaldi Lines.
From Porto Torres it is possible not only to reach Genoa and Civitavecchia, but also neighboring Corsica (Ajaccio), mainland France (Marseille) and Spain (Barcelona).

A few steps from the port area is the center of the town, where there are a whole series of commercial activities: from food shops to clothing stores, from wine bars to artisan shops and so on.
Porto Torres is not only a renowned tourist resort, but also a treasure trove of treasures that come from the past. Among these are certainly the Romanesque basilica dedicated to the patrons San Gavino, San Proto and San Gianuario and the church of the Beata Vergine della Consolata, dating back to the first half of the nineteenth century.
The civil architecture is also noteworthy: the palace of the Marquis (in neoclassical style, hosts exhibitions and conferences), the museum of the port and the Porto Torres marina station .
Furthermore, near the port, the Aragonese tower rises in all its might: 14 meters high, it differs from other coastal towers for its octagonal plan.
Other places to see absolutely are the archaeological park of Turris Libisonis (where there are the remains of the palace of King Barbaro and the domus of Orpheus) and the Roman bridge, which with its seven arches is the largest in Sardinia.
Among the beaches where you can spend your days in total relaxation we point out the beach of Balai (the most famous in the Turritano area), Fiume Santo, Acque dolci, Farrizza, Abbacurrente and Platamona.
For lovers of greenery, however, we suggest a walk in the San Gavino and Robert Baden-Powell parks (the largest in the city) and in the La Farrizza pine forest.
