The port of Marina Grande is the first tourist postcard that welcomes visitors arriving on the island. A typically Mediterranean scenario is the backdrop to the numerous daily departures for Naples, Pozzuoli and Ischia (ferries and hydrofoils).
Ferries depart and arrive near the ticket offices, in front of the historic Palazzo Montefusco, the summer residence of the Bourbons. The hydrofoils a few tens of meters ahead, from an exclusively dedicated terminal.
Ferries take 60 minutes to reach Naples; from 40 to 50 to reach Pozzuoli; 30 to reach Ischia (same times in the opposite direction).
Hydrofoils 40 minutes to Naples; 20 minutes to Pozzuoli; 15 for Ischia (same times in the opposite direction).
The port of Procida offers various services: ticket offices, bars, newsstands, restaurants and car and scooter rental. There are also the bus terminal and the taxi rank.
Mention also for pleasure boating. Almost 500 berths and all the services that compete with a modern marina: 24 hour security; mooring / unmooring assistance; drinking water; underwater; mechanical, electrical assistance etc.
The port of Procida can be reached by bus, taxi and by car and scooter (useful info for those already on the island).
Bus: the buses that connect Procida are parked near the Church of Santa Maria della Pietà. Whatever the line, therefore, all journeys end near the port. There are four lines (C1; C2; L1; L2) and their frequency increases significantly during the summer period (in July and August connections are guaranteed until 3 am).Tickets can be purchased at newsagents, bars and tobacconists. They can generally also be purchased on board. Ask the driver before getting on.
Taxi: taxis stop in front of the maritime station, where there are the ticket offices of the companies that make connections to / from Procida. In most cases there is the ApeCar, very practical for getting around the narrow streets of the island.
Car: the port of Procida can also be reached by car and scooter.
Along via Roma, the road that runs along the port of Procida, there are bar-pastry shops, restaurants, pizzerias and rental businesses.
The port area of Procida is also the most developed tourist area. Bars, patisseries (try the famous "lingua"), pizzerias and restaurants follow one another along via Roma guaranteeing a good choice for tourists on holiday on the island.
After the maritime station, there is also the Silurenza beach easily accessible on foot and particularly suitable for mothers and children.
Finally, do not miss the Church of Santa Maria della Pietà, right in the center of Marina Grande. It's one of the many symbols of the marine origins of the people of Procida, full of ex voto (around the main altar there are a rudder, an anchor and two sailing ships) and other devotional symbols. The large churchyard outside the church is a privileged location for the summer events that mark the Procida tourist season.
