Located in the Gulf of Valinco, the port of Propriano consists of a main quay where ferries from nearby Sardinia and mainland France dock.
Near the pier where the ships arrive there are a whole series of piers for pleasure boats, which crowd the tourist port of the Corsican town especially during the summer season.
As there is no railway line connecting all the main Corsican towns, to reach Propriano and its port it is necessary to rely on other means of transport. Below we suggest the most valid and concretely practicable alternatives.
From Sardinia - Take the ferry to Santa Teresa di Gallura sails to Bonifacio. Once at your destination, near the Bonifacino port you will find the bus which includes, among its stops, also that of Propriano. Alternatively, you can rent a car or other vehicle directly on the port of Bonifacio.
From Figari-Corsica del Sud airport - After landing at the airport, you will have the opportunity to choose between hiring a means of transport and a bus.
For more information, please take a look at the Tourist Office website.
The distance between the Figari airport and the port of Propriano is just under 60 km, which can be covered by car in about an hour. Outside the airport, it is also possible to take the bus that connects the two municipalities and other places in Corsica.
The ticket offices are located inside the building that houses the ferry terminal, which is located a few meters from the boarding points.
Strolling along the streets of the tourist port of Propriano, you will find numerous commercial activities where you can shop: clothing, shoe, food shops and so on.
The small historic center of Propriano develops around the most significant monument of the town: the church of Notre Dame de la Misericordie. The religious building was erected in 1864 together with the bell tower; another notable place of worship is the chapel of Sainte Marie, built four years earlier.
However, Propriano is coveted by tourists not so much for its history, but for the splendid beaches included in the municipal area and beyond. We refer to the Lido beach (about one kilometer from the center), the Porto Pollo beach, the Taravo beach, the Baracci beach and the Capu Laurosu beach.
