The port of Stromboli rises in the north-eastern part of the island which houses the homonymous volcano. It is characterized by the presence of a small pier - surrounded in part by the beach - where ships and fast boats dock that sail from the Aeolian Islands, Sicily and the mainland to reach the island, the northernmost of the archipelago.
Fast and daily connections from Milazzo and the other Aeolian islands, while from Messina and Palermo only in summer. From mid-June to the beginning of September, connections also from Naples Mergellina and Salerno.
As there is no public transport service, the port of Stromboli can be reached on foot or by electric taxis, which take tourists from one part of the town to the other which develops in the north-eastern part of the island.
The ticket offices of the shipping companies are located a few hundred meters from the pier.
Near the port there are several commercial activities: restaurants; boat rental; clothes shops; sporting goods; food etcetera.
Due to its small size, Stromboli can be easily visited on foot (to reach Ginostra, located on the other side of the island, it is necessary to move by boat). Once you arrive at the pier of Scari, you can immerse yourself in the suggestive villages of Piscità, Ficogrande and San Vincenzo, where in 1980 a prehistoric settlement was discovered.
There are also guides on the territory that lead tourists to discover the Stromboli crater, which still continues its volcanic activity to the present day.
In addition to the explosions and lava flows admirable from the Observatory, visitors can also enjoy the sunny beachesand the beautiful waters that surround the island. Do not miss a dip near the Strombolicchio, the islet of volcanic origin located just over a kilometer from Stromboli and which houses a wind energy lighthouse.
