Located in the northern part of Tunisia - and to be exact in the coastal town of La Goletta - the port of Tunis is the most important in the country and among the main ones on the African continent and in the Mediterranean.
The port area is essentially divided into three zones, respectively intended for cargo ships, to those from cruise and pleasure boats.
The port of Tunis is connected to Palermo, Salerno, Civitavecchia and Genoa.
The companies operating at the Tunisian airport include Grimaldi Lines and GNV (Grandi Navi Veloci).
The city is served by the Tunis-Carthage airport, which is located 8 km north-east of the capital.
To reach the city center you can choose between various options.
At the airport you can rent a car and get to Tunis by accessing the RN9 (the journey takes about half an hour).
Alternatively, there is the Bus 35 of the SNT (Société des transports de Tunis): it leaves every 30 minutes and allows you to reach the Tunisian capital in half an hour.
If these solutions do not interest you, there is always the possibility of taking a taxi.
For more information, we recommend that you take a look at the special section that Air France dedicates to the Tunis airport.
From Tunis Marine Station depart the TGM train, which enable travelers to easily reach La Goulette, the small seaside village where the port is located.

Except for the services that are commonly found in a port area, you will not find much near the Tunisian port. Moving towards La Goulette and Tunis, on the other hand, you will have the opportunity to shop in the shops and small shops of these two inhabited centers. During your stay in Tunis you will have the opportunity to visit the famous souks which are located in the vicinity of the al-Zaytuna mosque.
The tour to discover Tunis can only start from its historic center, which is still the beating heart of the city today. The Medina district - recognized as a World Heritage Site in 1979 - is characterized by a maze of winding streets where you can appreciate the timeless charm of the Tunisian capital.
Walking along its streets, you can admire hundreds of monuments, mainly palaces and mosques. Among the latter, the most important is certainly the al-Zaytuna mosque: erected on an area of about 5000 square meters, it represents the main place of worship in Tunis and is also one of the landmarks of the Sunni current.
The old part of the city is also known for the presence of the souks, the characteristic markets where you can buy carpets, fabrics, typical ceramics and much more.
Outside the perimeter of the Medina, heading east, stands the Cathedral of San Vincenzo de 'Paoli: an example of Romanesque-Byzantine architecture, this church is characterized by the presence of Arabesque-style domes. Near the west exit of the district there is a symbolic place of the Arab spring: Kasbah square. On the latter overlook, among others, the Town Hall and the mosque; in the center of the large square is the modern Monument to the Fatherland.
Not far from the historic center there is another building that absolutely deserves to be visited. We refer to the National Archaeological Museum of Bardo, housed in what was the residence of the bey during the 19th century. The Tunisian museum complex boasts - among its exhibits - the largest collection of Roman mosaics in the world.
For lovers of greenery, we recommend taking a walk in the Belvedere park. Located in the upper part of Tunis, it is an oasis of peace not far from the center where you can not only immerse yourself in nature, but also enjoy a wonderful view of the city and the sea.
