The port of Halki, Nimborio, is connected with the small port of Rhodes on the west coast, Kamiro Skala; the route is completed by ferries in forty minutes. Furthermore, throughout the year, ferries connect Halki to the main port of Rhodes in two hours, and to the port of Piraeus (Athens) in twenty-seven hours; this journey is not direct and makes several intermediate stops in other Aegean islands (Milos, Santorini, Anafi, Sitia, Kassos, Karpathos, Diafani) before arriving in the port of Nimborio, the town of the island. Catamarans to and from the main port of Rhodes take an hour and a quarter.
There is a traffic ban on the island but buses and taxis are available. In case you are in Nimborio, you can reach the port on foot.
In the port of Nimborio there is an ATM and a regional medical centre. A few steps away, in the central square of the village, there is the municipal office for tourist information.
A few steps from the port we find bars, restaurants and a supermarket, where you can also buy basic medicines.
