Located on the Strait of Messina, Reggio Calabria is one of the ports (together with Villa San Giovanni) from which ferries and hydrofoils depart which allow travelers to reach Messina and the Aeolian archipelago (fast connections with this last are guaranteed only during the summer period).
The port area - one of the most strategic in the South and in the country - is protected to the west by a long artificial quay. Within the port basin we can distinguish a pier where hydrofoils dock during the summer and a large quay for ships , which carry both passengers and goods.
There are also gods between the pier and the quaypiers for the mooring of pleasure boats and the fish market. In the northern part of the port, in addition to private boats, there are also the means of the Harbor Master's Office and other police forces.
The urban public service in the Municipality of Reggio Calabria is managed by ATAM (Transport Company for the Metropolitan Area of Reggio Calabria). The city and its port can be reached from various cities in Italy also thanks to Flixbus and other companies that provide the same service.

Downtown Reggio Calabria (Corso Garibaldi in particular) are numerous activities: clothing stores, accessories, shoes, cosmetics, electronics, mobile, local products, wine bars, delicatessens, bakeries and so on.
Guarded by the Aspromonte massif, that of Reggio Calabria is a territory to be discovered and admired. Although it has been affected by anthropogenic and natural events (in particular by the Messina earthquake of 1908), the city preserves monuments and places that tell of its glorious past.
Religious buildings undoubtedly stand out among the most significant monuments in Reggio: the Cathedral, the church of the Ottimati, the Catholic church of the Greeks, the Graziella church and the church of San Giorgio al Corso, dedicated to the patron saint of the city. Among the military and civilian ones, however, the Aragonese Castle deserves a mention, Palazzo San Giorgio (seat of the Town Hall), Palazzo Corrado Alvaro (seat of the Metropolitan City), Villa Zerbi , the Cilea theater - the largest in Calabria -, the Politeama "Siracusa" and the Arena dello Stretto.
Between Viale Zerbi and the Falcomatà seafront (a green lung not surprisingly called the "most beautiful kilometer in Italy"), you will find the national museum of Magna Graecia, where you will have the opportunity to admire the famous Riace Bronzes, found in the summer of 1972 in the waters of the Calabrian town. Other notable archaeological sites are the remains of the Roman baths, the Greek wallsand the excavations of Piazza Italia, the main one in the city. Finally, it is worth mentioning the "Planetarium" Pythagoras ": inaugurated in 2004, it is one of the main centers for astronomical dissemination in Italy.
