The port of Trapani, located in the northwestern part of Sicily, is one of the ports (together with that of nearby Marsala) from where hydrofoils and fast ships depart for the Egadi archipelago.
The fast connections allow you to reach Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo every day of the year, weather conditions permitting. It goes without saying that during the summer season the shipping companies make a greater number of departures (also for Pantelleria), and this to meet the needs of tourists who choose to stay in the Egadi.
The port area of Trapani also welcomescruise ships and private boats (which have special piers), and has also been an important commercial port for centuries .

Trapani is certainly one of the most evocative places in western Sicily. To make it so attractive is not only the proximity to the sea and the Egadi archipelago, but also the countless riches present in its territory. Among these it is possible to include the numerous churches: the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, the Church of Purgatory, that of the Jesuit College and the Sanctuary of the "Madonna di Trapani", patron saint of the city together with Sant'Alberto da Trapani.
Also significant are Palazzo D'Alì (which houses the Municipality), Palazzo Cavarretta and the nearby Porta Oscura (the oldest in Trapani), Palazzo della Giudecca and Palazzo Riccio di Morana, seat of the presidency of the Province of Trapani. Furthermore, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, it is possible to admire the Triton fountain.
Other places to visit are undoubtedly the Castello di Terra, the Torre di Ligny, the Casina Nasi, the lazaretto and the Castello di Mare. A special mention also deserves Villa Margherita - the largest green lung in the city -, the regional museum "Agostino Pepoli" and Piazza Mercato del Pesce, called by the locals ' a Chiazza.
Before leaving, it is necessary to take a trip to the Castello di Venere in Erice (reachable by cable car) and to the nature reserve of the Saline di Trapani and Paceco, characterized by the presence of windmills.
