Located in the hamlet of Vibo Marina , the port of Vibo Valentia is one of the main in Calabria. The port area of the Calabrian city rises to be exact along the so-called Costa degli Dei, a coastline of about 55 km that extends from Pizzo Calabro to Nicotera.
Despite its small size, the Vibonese airport plays an important role in trade and passenger transport. During the summer, in fact, the port of Vibo Marina becomes one of the main gateways to the suggestive archipelago of the Aeolian islands. The Liberty Lines company, in particular, guarantees connections with Lipari, Panarea, Santa Marina Salina, Stromboli and Vulcano. The Sicilian company also runs seasonal runs on the Vibo Marina- Milazzo route.
Finally, an area of the port is intended for pleasure boating: during the summer, the piers located in the south-eastern part of the port host numerous yachts.
The closest airport to the Vibo Marina airport is Lamezia Terme, located about 34 km north-east of the Vibo area. The Lametina airport - built in the mid-1970s - is one of the busiest in the South and is administered by SACAL (Calabrian airport company), which also manages the airport of Crotone and Reggio Calabria. International flights also depart from Lamezia Terme (mainly to the United Kingdom and Germany ). For more information, we suggest you connect to the terminal portal.
As already mentioned in the paragraph dedicated to how to reach the port of Vibo Valentia, both the provincial capital and the hamlet of Vibo Marina have their own stations, managed by the State Railways. As for the latter, it is located not far from the port area, which can therefore be reached on foot.

As in all self-respecting tourist resorts, also in Vibo Marina there are a whole series of commercial activities that will not fail to attract your attention. The port area, in particular, becomes lively as the bathing season approaches. While waiting to take the hydrofoil that will take you to the Aeolian Islands, you can therefore entertain yourself near the Vibonese port.
There are several places to visit near the port of Vibo Marina. Not far from the embarkations for the Aeolian Islands, and exactly in the locality of Trainiti, it is still possible today to admire what remains of the ancient port of Vibo: according to scholars, landing places for trade (in particular obsidian) existed in that area as early as the Neolithic.
Other notable places are the Castle of Bivona (which stands in the locality of the same name), the Torre Marzano, the diocesan sanctuary dedicated to Maria SS. del Rosario di Pompei and the Tonnara, which will soon host the "Civiltà del Mare" museum. The seabed of Vibo Marina - together with those of other renowned neighboring towns (Pizzo, Tropea, Capo Vaticano etc.) - are part of the "Costa degli Dei" Regional Park.
